The People’s Legal Center (referred to thereafter as the Center or the Legal Center) is a nonprofit public legal center that provides public legal education, resources, and representation to community members, especially immigrants and youth, in the City and County of San Francisco.  The Legal Center provides case management and referral services, legal educational workshops and classes, and affordable legal aid and representation to those that cannot afford it. By nature, America is a fairly litigious society, and while everyone has the same legal rights, attorneys are generally required for someone to enforce and assert their rights.  This is not a problem for people with financial capital and assets.  For those without, their civil rights are often compromised. The Legal Center will reverse this trend by offering case management and referral services, legal education and resources, and affordable legal aid and representation to those that could not otherwise afford it. Additionally, The Legal Center will create curriculums that teach community members how to dissect and understand legal terminologies/concepts so that they can use the knowledge to advocate for themselves.
